Taiwan FDA announcement: Three types of skin-whitening ingredients will be now regulated under the category of general cosmetics. |

The amendment of “The Standard of Cosmetics Containing Medical or Toxic Pharmaceuticals” indicates that three skin-whitening ingredients, including Tranexamic Acid, Potassium Methoxysalicylate, and 5,5 Dipropyl-biphenyl-2,2-diol, will no longer be regulated under the category of cosmeceuticals. As of today, these three ingredients are now regulated under the category of general cosmetics. These three ingredients do not need to undergo the inspections for cosmeceuticals when applied within a certain limited range in the finished products.
